WHAT WE DO
Kiewiet.co is a group of proudly South Africans that organically came together to produce fine hand crafted products, all made from reclaimed and up-cycled oak wood. Located in the heart of the winelands on a farm between Paarl and Stellenbosch.
Wine barrels deliver a prominent looking yellow oak, slightly stained pink by the penetrating red wine. The lids of the barrels are used to make round cheese boards, bread boards, serving trays and coffee table tops. The staves of the barrels are either cut into smaller lengths for making cutting blocks or are glued together as is, to give the barrel shape to the many different oak bowls available. Certain furniture pieces are also made from the curved barrel staves, like our flagship Lovers bench and oak chair.
The 2 colours of reclaimed oak, together with their many different shapes and sizes, serve as the building blocks for our array of upcycled wine oak products.
The founder and owner, Anthony Laubscher – or Kiewiet among friends – is a passionate young man who lives to express himself through different mediums by reconstructing “new” from “old”.
KIEWIET & THE TEAM
After operating Kiewiet.co for 17 years at Rock Ridge Farm, we moved to Klein Bottelary Farm in March 2022. It's been quite a journey for us all, but we've not only weathered the storm, we've come out on top! Fortunate to say that amid the ongoing moving and renovations, our production has stayed steady through the years

Herwonne wynhout word ’n onderneming
31 May 2016 - Netwerk24
Richard Branson het gesê: ‘If somebody offers you an amazing opportunity but you are not sure you can do it, say yes – then learn how to do it later.’
“’n Mens moet jou mindset verander as jy wil begin geld maak.
’n Mens moet jou mindset verander as jy wil begin geld maak.
Product Care Instructions
Our cutting boards all come treated with 100% olive oil, and we suggest you do the same, and keep it that way. Treatment with olive oil ensures that no water or contamination penetrates the wood.
After use, hand-wash your board with hot water and mild soap, then wipe dry with a cloth. Never soak your board in water. Once fully dried, apply a thin coat of olive oil and polish on all sides using a paper towel. Wooden boards can be damaged if exposed to too much moisture or allowed to get very dry. Avoid prolonged soaking or direct sunlight.
